Friday Market Update

On Thursday, the stock market hit its 4th consecutive record and 30th All Time High, despite poor performance in individual stocks, with more than two-thirds of the S&P 500 closing in the red. By 8:00 am ET today, S&P futures were down 0.5%, although they had recovered from earlier lows, while Nasdaq futures, which had reached a fresh all-time high despite over 70% of its components trading lower, were down 0.2%.

PPI Release – Less than expected

After a softer-than-expected CPI report yesterday led to a buying frenzy in both stocks and bonds (until Powell intervened), this morning’s PPI report is anticipated to show mixed results, with a smaller month-over-month (MoM) increase but a higher year-over-year (YoY) rise, exceeding the 12-month highs reached in the previous month.
